ExFAB maintains a training lab available to students and faculty at Cal Poly Pomona, which provides hands-on training and access to specialized equipment including an Oxford Nanopore MinION Mk1D, a QuantStudio real-time PCR system, a Beckman Coulter Optima Max-XP benchtop ultracentrifuge, and two New Brunswick Innova 42 high temperature incubator shakers.
Capabilities include: sequencing of transcriptomes, bacterial and viral genomes/metagenomes, and 16S/18S rRNA genes; analysis of gene expression and nucleic acid abundance via quantitative PCR; isolation of viral particles, cellular organelles or subcellular fractions via high-speed centrifugation, and cultivation of thermophilic microbes.
If you are a Cal Poly Pomona researcher interested in using the ExFAB training lab, contact Kiya Kersh or Jamie Snyder to discuss facility access and training.
